At the Leadership Live Conference in London, hosted by the Institute of Leadership, Synthosys co-founders Dr Vanessa Pozzali and Dr Tarek Jomaa delivered a joint keynote challenging conventional views of high performance.
Drawing on their distinct backgrounds — Tarek’s track record in motorsport engineering and endurance racing, and Vanessa’s expertise in group dynamics and psychology — they introduced the origins of the 4C Diagnostic Model and explained how it helps organisations build cultures that don’t just perform, but endure.
The keynote struck a chord with participants when Tarek and Vanessa warned:
“You don’t have a high-performing team. You have a fragile team performing highly.”
Using the cautionary example of the Peugeot 908 at Le Mans 2010, they showed how apparent success can collapse under pressure when resilience isn’t built into the system.
Takeaway: True high performance is not about speed or output — it’s about creating anti-fragile teams that can adapt, recover, and thrive in the face of disruption.
