As part of our Cut the Fluff campaign, Synthosys co-founders Dr Vanessa Pozzali and Dr Tarek Jomaa joined Simon Johnson and Loghan Matts for a podcast recorded at Keele University.

The conversation cut straight to the point: in an era of AI acceleration, shrinking budgets, rising layoffs, and mounting tax pressures, organisations too often see people development as expendable. Vanessa and Tarek challenged this mindset, arguing that it is precisely in times of disruption that investing in leadership and culture becomes non-negotiable.

They outlined the Synthosys approach:

  • Align teams to overcome hidden misalignments.

  • Uncover unconscious patterns that derail culture.

  • Deliver precise interventions that build resilience and sustainable performance.

Takeaway: In turbulent times, people development isn’t a perk. It’s the foundation of long-term adaptability and growth.
