In this webinar, Synthosys co-founder Dr Tarek Jomaa explored the hidden costs of burnout on organisations and the importance of burnout prevention in organisations and society.. Drawing on data, he highlighted a striking comparison: what UK companies spend each year on addressing burnout could, in theory, end unemployment across the country.

Tarek argued that most organisations remain trapped in a reactive cycle — pouring money into remedies rather than preventing burnout at its source. He reframed high performance not as relentless endurance or “toughing it out,” but as the ease of collaboration, clarity, and adaptability, even under pressure.

The message was clear: burnout is not an individual weakness, but a systemic failure of culture and leadership.

Takeaway: True resilience is not about withstanding stress — it’s about creating cultures where collaboration and understanding thrive, reducing the very conditions that cause burnout.
