In this joint article, Synthosys co-founders Dr Vanessa Pozzali and Dr Tarek Jomaa reflect on leadership and culture in Armenia, following their participation in the Science of Leadership Conference and WCIT 2024.

Blending psychology, group dynamics, and motorsport-inspired insights, they explored how observation as a practice helps uncover unconscious dynamics — in organisations and in culture. Their time in Armenia revealed a nation deeply rooted in connection, resilience, and openness to learning, qualities that mirror the foundations of sustainable leadership.

They drew parallels between Armenia’s foundational myths, its commitment to community, and the organisational stories that shape identity and performance. Both highlighted how meaningful cultural encounters offer lessons for leaders everywhere: lasting impact comes from balancing excellence with humanity, ambition with connection.

Takeaway: Just as in leadership, true cultural strength lies not only in performance, but in the resilience, community, and adaptability that sustain it.
